Coucou!

I have had such a fun week with Soeur Smith! It started out kinda
crazy and so the poor thing still hasn't had time to unpack but I
think she still loves me haha.

Tuesday we went to help Marie, who is a lady that we do service for
once a week and then we teach her a little bit. It's been so cool to
see her changing and how she turns to God now in little thanks and see
His hand on her life. She's really funny though and every time she
catches herself doing it she says this is your fault! I don't think
it! But secretly we all know she does ;)

We were also about to go out to Thonon this week to see the Boileau
family and we got to teach their 2 grandsons who are total
sweethearts! We had a great lesson with the boys about repentance and
then since they live right on Lake Geneva we were able to go to the
lake and throw rocks for a little.

Oh and also, great news! Our recent convert Jocelyne went to the
temple!!! This week we helped her do her family history and she took
some of her own family names! We haven't been able to get many details
yet but she said it went great and she can't wait to tell us about her
experience!

And like always we visited Nina and her family who is doing great! She
spent most of the time teaching me different French clapping games
haha. I'm pretty bad at remembering the words to them but she thinks
it's funny when I mess up. Also since we've started visiting Nina
she's become super great at doing an American accent when she speaks
French! Haha it's super funny to see her imitate us.

One of the things that has been on my mind lately is how our agency
works. We know that Heavenly Father is always there for us and he will
bless us as much as He can but when we make a bad choice sometimes we
have to live with the consequences. And I think that can be hard when
the choices we make as teenagers or young adults affect our lives for
years. I've seen that in some of the people we teach and it's so hard
to watch them regret the choices they've made and have to watch them
live with the consequences. But thankfully, no matter what the Lord
knows our pain and Heavenly Father will help us as much as He can.

Sooo this was the state of our apartment Sunday night haha. It was pretty bad but don't worry, promise we cleaned and it's as good as new! We would pass any apartment inspection!

I don't know where to start this week! Well we'll start with what's
most important! NINA WAS BAPTIZED!!! I am SO proud of her! She is such
a special little girl with such a desire to follow the Savior. She is
going to be a wonderful blessing to her family and a great example to
her siblings. This has been a really special experience getting to
know Nina and her family. They have very little but they have so much
faith. Nina's mom was reactivated through the process of teaching Nina
and even though they have so little Sr. Baccovin is always so able to
see the hand of the Lord in their life. I'm excited to see that family
keep progressing.

The Ward has also been amazing with this baptism. They've supported
the whole family and did a great job at helping us organize
everything! I was one proud missionary of the Annemasse Ward this
week!

But anyways, that was jumping to the end of my week. Earlier this week
we also wee able to attend 2 district meeting! Both district leaders
went home this week and for their district meetings they left
everything out on the table. It was great to see the fire that they
still had for missionary work. Although, I have to be honest. My
favorite part was probably during lunchtime after the Salève district
meeting. We had 4 missionaries in that district who went home this
week and for their last public role play we had them role play asking
someone out on a date haha! They all did an ok job but one elder did
awful! But anyways, it was funny and we were able to give them some
pointers for their first few weeks back haha.

Thursday evening we went to the Coppel's house and guess what.. They
had a friend over!!! Her name is Julia and she is SO cool! We had a
great lesson with her AND she came to church on Sunday!! She really
enjoyed it and we are now just trying to find a time when she is free
so we can teach her again! Yay members!!!

It rained after our conference so a few of us decided to play in the rain!

After the Coppel's us and the Annecy sisters headed home for a
sleepover! And keeping with tradition with eve before transfer calls
we did Tim tam slams! Delicious! Friday morning we got the call from
President and sadly Soeur Holmgren is leaving me and heading to Lyon!
We were both pretty bummed not to be able to stay together but that
was quickly washed away when President says: "Soeur Kearney, are you
sitting down?" And said yes and then he says "Well you will be staying
in Annemasse (YES!) and your new companion will be SOEUR SMITH!"
Hahaha needless to say I screamed and started jumping around!

If anyone doesn't remember Soeur McClellan and I trained Soeur Smith
back in aubagne about 6 months ago. Ever since I've been bugging
President to let me serve with her again since we only stayed one
together. My wish finally came true just in time for my last
transfer!!!

We're so excited to be together and to kill it here in Annemasse this transfer!

This week was amazing!!!

It started with a great exchange with Soeur Lowder! She is such a
superstar and it was so fun being with her. It was also the first time
I had stayed in Annemasse for an exchange and I didn't even get us
lost! I was quite proud :) :)

That evening we had a mangez-vous with the Van Hauvermat family and
they gave us Rootbeer!!! It was so good. They're such a fun family and
we always have an amazing time with them.

Wednesday we had a rdv with our Amis Anne-Marie and Patrice. They're
friends of a member family and so we all spent the afternoon together
and since Annemarie is an amazing chef she taught us how to make
delicious cakes!! So watch out everyone because I can cook like a
French person now!

We also got to see Nina this week who is our engagé and she'll be
getting baptized this week!!! We're so excited for her and especially
for her family. She's been an amazing example to her other siblings
and we're hoping they that will be touched by the spirit at the
baptismal service.

I can't remember if I said anything about the challenge president gave
us 2 weeks ago? His challenge was for us to find new Amis! It has been
our weakest key indicator for a while and it was so cool to see
Annemasse just light up for the past two weeks. Soeur Holmgren and I
had set a goal to find 20 new Amis in 2 weeks which was like really
pushing it since the normal would be 1-2. But we're pleased to report
that we found 21 new Amis!!! It was amazing! Throughout the week we
would plan specific times to see miracles and it was amazing to see
how when we fixed that rdv with Heavenly Father, He would always send
us someone. Almost every conversation we had would turn into a 30
minute street lesson and then fixing a follow up rdv.

To too this amazing week off we drove to Lyon with the Annecy sisters
(road trip!) for our sisters conference on Monday. Best part was that
Sunday night we got to sleepover at the mission home! Us and 4 other
sisters stayed the night. We ate a delicious meal made by soeur brown
and then we stayed up chatting with Soeur Brown till 11:30 haha. But
President gave us permission so it was ok!

Monday morning we woke up early and helped Soeur brown make pancakes
for all the sisters. We had a delicious pancake breakfast and then we
spent the day at the mission home learning what it was like to walk in
a sister missionaries shoes. It was such a fun day and the spirit was
so strong. It was nice to know that soon I'll be leaving the mission
in good hands and that the younger sisters are completely ready to
start taking on more responsibilities.

We also got to stop by Monday evening to see the Sweeney's and Joanne!
They Sweeney's started their mission just a little after me and
they've been a huge source of love and support throughout my mission.
So we got to have a quick little visit with them and then back on the
road again for another road trip and then Annecy Soeurs slept over
again!

I love my mission so much and it's getting scary as I start to realize
that I won't have many more weeks like this. I'm so lucky to be
serving in the best mission in the world (I know, I'm biased) and to
be surrounded be so many wonderful examples.

Bonjour!

This week was amazing!! We started the week with an exchange! Surprise
surprise haha. Sometimes I feel like I'm never with my actual
companion haha. But we had an exchange with the Annecy sisters who are
both SO fun! We love spending time with them. Anytime we can find an
excuse to have a sleepover we take it haha. Soeur Thompson and I went
to some outer villes with their calls and visited some members. Then
that evening Soeur Holmgren and I switched back and visited a part
member family. We had tons of fun playing around the world ping pong
with their 3 boys.

Wednesday we went to Cluses another outer ville to visit Nina's mom
who is slowly coming back to church. We had a great but short rdv with
her because of he darn strikes but it was worth it!

Thursday I became a Spanish speaking missionary for the day and did an
exchange in Geneva with the sisters in the Spanish Ward. I honestly
couldn't really tell you what we did because I didn't really
understand it haha.

Friday we had a zone finding day in Geneva! The whole zone came to
Geneva and we tore up the city with about 30 missionaries talking to
everyone! It was super fun and I FINALLY got to be companions with the
only other Canadian sister, Soeur Christensen. Haha we loved telling
people that we were both from Canada because usually it goes "je suis
canadienne et elle est américaine?" But not this time! That evening we
had a surprise rdv with our recent convert Jocelyn and... SOEUR
MONSON! She goes by Maren now though haha. She's a missionary that
served in this mission and came back for a visit.

Saturday we spent the day in the mountains with a part member family.
We were able to teach a super cool lesson #SermonOnTheMount

Finally Sunday was the coolest! The Western European inter-region had
a massive stake conference! So all 72 stakes in the inter-region had
like an almost mini general conference with an ALL-STAR line up! We
got to hear from Elder Kearon who has visited our mission and few
times and we love him! Then we heard from Bonnie Oscarson and is the
coolest and then Bishop Caussé who comes from France and THEN the
France Lyon Missions favorite apostle, Elder Christofferson! It was a
great Sunday and since is was the transmission we only had 2 hours of
church instead of 6! That meant we had time to do proselyting on
Sunday! Which was a super miracle for us and we were able to find 3
new Amis that afternoon and the extra time helped us get our 20
lessons for the week!

And of course we ended off our amazing week with a sleepover with the
Annecy sisters!

Coucou!

First off.. HAPPY FRENCH MOTHERS DAY!

I feel like this has been the week of sleepovers! We started the week
in Geneva for zone conference! It was of course tons of fun seeing
everyone. This transfer we are really focusing on finding new Amis so
it was nice to get some new contacting ideas on how we can find new
Amis. We're a lucky some to have gotten zone conference. The train
company here in France is on strike and so they had to cancel a bunch
of some conferences because there's no way for missionaries to travel
anymore! Luckily in our zone none of us need to take trains to get to
Geneva.

Then we did an exchange with the Geneva Lac sisters and I got to be in
Geneva! I spent the night with them which was so fun because them and
the Spanish sisters actually live in the old Geneva mission home! It's
so nice to be somewhere that actually has counter space! I was with
Soeur Canino who is from Italy! She is the cutest little thing ever!

Wednesday I was back in Annemasse with Soeur Holmgren. We went to see
our engagé Nina. That was another battle with the strikes but we made
it! Nina is 10 years old and is SO excited to be baptized!

Thursday we had a wonderful dinner with Soeur Morel, an older lady
from the ward. She's amazing! Even though her faith is declining she
does everything she can to serve others. That evening Soeur Thompson
and Soeur Christensen (from Edmonton!) came for a sleepover! Those 2
are SO much fun!

The next morning we all went to district meeting! After that we headed
back to Geneva for an exchange with the Spanish Sisters! I was with
Soeur Roldan who is from Spain! She is absolutely adorable!

Sunday was HECTIC! Having 2 wards is crazy haha, I love it though.
Running around is so much better then not having anything to do. Plus
the members in both wards are amazing so I can't complain. Then Sunday
evening I finally got to do skype with my family! It was perfect
timing for Mothers Day here in France!

I love you all! Have a great week!

Bonjour tout le monde!

This week I feel like I've been everywhere! We started the week in
Lyon for Mission Leadership Council. It was so much fun! We got there
Monday evening and went to master taco!!! So good! Then we had a huge
sleepover! You put 12 sisters in one apartment and pure craziness. So
fun though. I was in a room with my MTC sisters (Soeur Wilsher, Soeur
Fagg, and Soeur McClellan) and we had so much fun! We talked way too
much and were pretty tired the next day but it was worth it. We had a
lot to catch up on!

Tuesday the conference was of course wonderful! You will never guess
what the theme of this transfer is for our mission... Lighting our
mission on fire! Haha the irony was ridiculous. But it was an
inspirational theme. The spirit of God, like a fire is burning. We
want to be using that spirit to bring people into Christ. And as a
mission we want to be  working as hard as we can and truly spreading
that fire (spirit) everywhere. We also talked about binding Satan and
we want to try and purify ourselves as a mission. To do all we can to
become consecrated missionaries. In all I think this will be an
amazing transfer!

Then we had a couple days to work in our sector and I feel like we
were running everywhere! We had quite a few rdvs to fit  to two days
but we did it! One of them was with Dr. Seif! He's a man we met in
centre ville last week. We had a super cool rdv with him at his
doctors for office! He was so open and had tons of questions. He was
are ally touched by the message of the restoration BUT he's too busy
to see us often enough so we aren't sure if he'll be able to progress
much further until his work slows down.

Friday we went to GENEVA! Switzerland!!! Finally my mission wish of
going to Switzerland came true! It's beautiful and we get to go back
like every week! Zone training went well and we had tons of fun with
our zone.

Then this weekend was stake conference! So we were in Geneva again and
had a sleepover with our sisters in the old Geneva mission home. It's
was so cool staying not in a tiny apartment and it had a REAL kitchen!
Amazing haha.

Stake conference was amazing!!! It makes me so proud to see all these
faithful saints who are mostly pioneers for their families gathered
together in such large groups. The work here is progressing and the
church is strong. The local leaders show so much and faith for the
people they serve. It amazes me.

I love you all so so much!
Bisous,
Soeur Kearney

For pday today we helped elder Oborn poor out his heart to the girl he loves haha.

Monday, 16 May 2016

Bonjour!

Well my first week in Annemasse has been wonderful! France never
ceases to amaze me. It has everything from sandy beaches to snowy alps
and I've gotten the chance to serve in both areas. I know I'm biased
but the France Lyon Mission is truly the most beautiful mission in the
world!

Although I miss the south it's good for this Canadian to be up north
for the summer. It was kind of rainy this week but that didn't stop
the work going on here. The first week of the transfer is always nice
because we don't have any missionary meetings and no exchanges so we
get to spend the whole week in our sector getting work done. I was
able to meet our recent convert Jocelyn who is the classiest French
lady ever!

Wednesday we had a super cool miracle! We were at the church and we
ran into the stake president, President Coppel. First off he's super
cool and super sparky so we chatted for a while. Then we were like
well this has been nice but we need to go contact! And then he was
like hey sisters, do you mind if I pray with you quickly before you
go? And we were like of course! He says a beautiful prayer and then
off we go. In 40 minutes we talked to 3 people. Each person was super
fun and nice. We were able to have a lesson with one person on the
street and the other two we got their numbers and with one man we were
able to fix a rdv with him! Turns out he's a local doctor here so
we're super excited for our rdv next week!

More of the same went on the rest of the week but fast forward to
Sunday... THE MEMBERS HERE ARE AMAZING!!! Never have I ever felt more
loved and welcomed in my entire mission then in these 2 wars.
President Coppel is very missionary minded and it has rubbed off on
the entire stake. They love the missionaries and love doing missionary
work. We are so spoiled here and I'm so excited for the work that I
will be able to do with them.

In our first Ward, Salève, we showed up and President Coppel ran up to
us right away (he's in the Salève Ward) to inform us that a random guy
was here who said that the sisters used to teach him. His name is
Blaise and was actually someone Soeur Holmgren called like 2 months
ago and then he came! So we talked with him and then for Sunday school
we went to gospel principles but there was only us, Blaise, and the
elders. SO president Coppel joins us and we all end up teaching him.
Well actually, president Coppel teaches him and us and the elders
watch in awe as President Coppel does his stuff. Literally he should
be in the next district movie! So that was our big miracle for Sunday!

Je vous aime tous!
Soeur Kearney

So it's been cloudy all week so I haven't gotten the best pictures of the mountains but I thought this was so beautiful. The clouds on the mountains in a beautiful French neighbourhood!

Delicious patisseries!

La famille Gaud

The beautiful mountains that surround us here in Annemasse.

We were out porting and I got thirsty haha. Normally people just use the fountain to fill up their water bottles buuuut I forgot mine.
